Maitake (Grifola frondosa) , also known as Hen of the Woods, is believed to originate in Japan over 2,000 years ago. Known and used by many cultures throughout the world, Maitake is traditionally found in northern, temperate forests usually growing on dead or dying tree stumps, around the base.

Maitake contains many phytonutrients including polysaccharides such as Beta Glucans and triterpenes, ergosterols & alpha glucosidase inhibitor enzymes.
